Dubai Safari Park, Dubai, 2 March 2019 – مرحباً (Marhaban!) from Stage 7, the Dubai Stage, final act of the inaugural edition of the UAE Tour (24 February – 2 March 2019), the only WorldTour race in the Middle East. The showdown before the coronation of the very first UAE Tour winner will be raced entirely in Dubai.

During the stage, the last 36 points for the Green Jersey and 16 for the Black Jersey are up for grabs. There are a maximum available of 16″ time bonuses too, 3″ in each of the two intermediate sprints and 10″ on the finish line.

Stage 7 – DUBAI STAGE – Dubai Safari Park-Citywalk – 145km
The UAE Tour’s final showdown is through the streets of Dubai, based closely on one of the most popular features of the Dubai Tour. After departure from the Dubai Safari Park the route then grafts on to the familiar course through the Dubai Design District, Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Beach, Deira, and Rashid Port to reach Jumeirah Road and finish in Citywalk. The final stage is one for the fastest wheels!
Final Km
After leaving Jumeirah Road the route is on wide roads with a final curve at 500m to go, and enters the City Walk, where the finish line is on an 8.5m wide road with square cobblestones.
1 – DUBAI SAFARI PARK
The Dubai Safari Park located in Al Warqa’a, covers a massive 1.2 sq km with an impressive line up of over 2,500 varieties of flora and fauna.
2 – MEYDAN RACECOURSE
Previously known as Nad al Sheb, Meydan Racecourse is a horse racing facility accommodating over 60,000 spectators in a 1-mile long grandstand. Racing season starts in November and reaches its peak in March with the elite Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race, with a dizzying US $10 million prize. The Meydan Group has a complete range of commercial developments, hospitality, sports, entertainment and amusement services, a series of state-of-the-art business parks, residential villa communities, schools, hospitals, business towers with luxury waterfront developments and shopping destinations.
3 – DUBAI DESIGN DISTRICT
The Dubai Design District – also known as d3 – is a purpose-built community dedicated to promoting and nurturing emerging local talent and providing a creative home to established international design, luxury and fashion brands. d3’s facilities include residential, hospitality, retail and office space on a 1.8km long waterfront populated with food, beverage and retail outlets, hotels, and a multi-use outdoor space.
4 – MUSHRIF PARK
Mushrif Park lies in a sheltered dip amongst rolling sand desert. It’s an artificial desert like a park of 5.25m2 (1,300 acres) with many family entertainment activities. The park’s facilities include swimming pools, fountains, lakes, and children’s play areas, as well as train, camel and pony rides. A special feature is the International Garden Area exhibiting miniature houses from different countries.
5 – THE DUBAI FRAME
The project aims to implement a frame, which uniquely highlights the Dubai landmarks. It forms an aesthetic and architectural landmark that creates a bridge between the past and the present, to be an important attraction point for tourist visitors and residents alike. It is in the form of a frame, with two 150m high towers that are connected by a 93m bridge at the top of the towers. The space between the towers create a clear view of the city from a high altitude. The bridge serves as an observatory providing uninterrupted views of “Old Dubai” to the north, and “New Dubai” to the south.
6 – LAST EXIT
Last Exit is a first-of-its-kind themed food truck concept offering a selection of fresh and tasty gourmet street food in a fun, chilled and convenient atmosphere.
7 – AL MAMZAR BEACH
A recreational area in an exquisite park on the beach, where people can enjoy barbecue sites, chalets, swimming pools and playgrounds for children, set in a total area of 106 hectares.
8 – DUBAI CREEK
Dubai Creek is a saltwater creek, cutting through the heart of Dubai. The seawater Dubai Creek winds its way from the trading port on the Gulf to the Ras al Khor bird sanctuary on the desert edge of Dubai. In the past it was the centre of the shing and pearling industry, which formed the main sectors of the city’s economy. Nowadays the eastern and western banks are connected by one tunnel and four bridges, but the traditional form of transport on the creek, which is still available, were ferry boats.
9 – DUBAI MUSEUM
Al Fahidi Fort which houses Dubai Museum was built around 1787 and once guarded the landward approaches to the town. It is the oldest existing building in Dubai and was built of coral rock. The Dubai Museum was opened in 1971 to preserve and exhibit the traditional way of life in Dubai. Galleries recreate scenes from the Creek, traditional Rab houses, mosques, Souks and date farms, along with the desert and marine life.
10 – AL SEEF
Al Seef is a bustling destination, spread over 1.8km, that is rooted in Dubai’s culture and heritage, with a charming atmosphere that resonates throughout its distinct heritage and contemporary areas. Tucked away on the banks of Dubai’s much-loved creek, Al Seef has become a focal point for residents and visitors looking for a unique place to shop, dine and stay. Located in an area that is rich in historical sites, the neighbourhood also benefits from close proximity to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
11 – PORT RASHID
Port Rashid, also known as Mina Rashid, is a manmade, commercial port which opened in 1972. It’s a multi-purpose port equipped to handle both cargo and passengers and is also the Dubai Cruise Terminal. Port Rashid’s central location in the heart of Dubai makes it very attractive for traditional traders and tourists.
12 – ETIHAD MUSEUM
The Etihad Museum focuses on inspiring its visitors with the story of the founding of the UAE. Opened on 7 January 2017, the 25,000 square metre landmark is befittingly located at the very place where the UAE was founded in 1971. The various pavilions house experience-driven exhibitions, interactive programmes and education initiatives that explore the chronology of events that culminated in the unification of the Emirates, with emphasis on the period from 1968 to 1974. The programmes also aim to educate visitors about the nation’s constitution; in particular the rights, privileges and responsibilities that it bestows upon the people of the UAE.
13 – DUBAI WATER CANAL
The Dubai Canal is not only grandly beautiful, but smart – the five pedestrian bridges are not only fitted with electric elevators and escalators on both sides, (and one has a concrete bridge to serve cyclists) but has smart electric poles controllable with a smart app too. It is also proud to be environmentally friendly, seeking to improve the water quality by 33% and improves the turnover of water in the entire system up to four times per year. Marine transport is similarly greatly enhanced, with the ridership of marine transit modes in the canal expected to exceed one million riders per year up to 2020, jumping to four million by 2020. This is the equivalent of a about 2.9 million journeys by vehicles on roads. The bridges’ concept and their design process was inspired by the current architectural and urban fabric of Dubai. The Canal is a modern extension of Dubai Creek and as such, is a journey from the past to the future. It traverses through the past (Deira) through new Dubai (Business Bay) and Jumeirah ending in the Arabian Canal. Raising the bridges emphasizes how the Canal influences the future urban structure of Dubai as it carves its way through present developments and shapes new ones. The waterfall reinforces this idea, by lifting water from the Canal to create the new waterfall. The project has access to the most prestigious new and old districts of Dubai in either direction. It will further create numerous opportunities by significantly increasing waterfront development, providing the possibility of modern water transport, improving water quality in Dubai Creek, and becoming a signature tourist attraction.
14 – UNION HOUSE DAR AL ITTIHAD
The Etihad Museum is based at the site of Union House, or Dar Al Etihad, where in 1971 emirates’ Rulers signed a declaration that marked the formation of the UAE. The Etihad Museum collects, preserves, and displays the heritage of the United Arab Emirates in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific, and military history. The museum takes its visitors to the foundation of phase the UAE. It holds everything from old passports to personal artefacts such as rings, eyeglasses and pocket watches, stamps and letters and other rare items are on display for the public to add dimensions to the story of the rulers of UAE.
15 – LA MER
La Mer is a world-class beachfront by Meraas that incorporates a minimalist and contemporary design with a unique mix of dining, shopping, leisure, entertainment, retail and hospitality experiences. Comprising three areas – La Mer South, La Mer North and Laguna, the destination has more than 120 shops, cafés and restaurants. La Mer also features 4.5 kilometres of pristine sandy beaches, taking inspiration from the way that the sea carries its treasures to the shore to create a magical and carefree place where people can celebrate life from the moment they step onto the boardwalks.
16 – KITE BEACH
Kite Beach is Dubai’s favourite community beach – a picture-postcard destination and a perfect place for the adventurous and playful, just 15 minutes from Downtown Dubai. There’s plenty to do on this half-kilometre stretch of white sands, where crashing blue waves popular with kite surfers earned the beach its name. There are water sports activities; beach racket sports, fitness and yoga classes, obstacle courses, trampolines, and over 30 fun and quirky cafes – not to mention options to shop and play. Kite Beach is also a special place on New Year’s Eve, where revellers gather to watch the fireworks and celebrate beneath the stars.
17 – BURJ AL ARAB
Burj Al Arab, at 321m (1,053ft) is the fourth tallest hotel in the world and one of Dubai’s most famous landmarks. Opened in December 1999, the luxury hotel stands on an artificial island and its shape mimics the sail of a ship. To advertise the local Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open, the hotel used to convert its helipad into a green-roofed tennis court situated 211m high on a surface area of 415m2. The iconic first exhibition was a friendly match between Roger Federer and Andre Agassi in 2005.
18 – BLUEWATERS
With an exclusive selection of premium residences, retail, dining, and leisure and entertainment experiences, Bluewaters is a modern, family-oriented island destination with a pioneering spirit that blends waterfront living with the exhilaration of urban city life. A colourful beacon that adorns Dubai’s spectacular coastline and skyline, residents and visitors at Bluewaters will be able to take an enthralling flight above the city’s iconic skyline at Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest and largest observation wheel and the centrepiece of the island. A stroll along the elegant boulevard awaits on the ground, with over 200 retail and dining concepts, ranging from high-end waterfront restaurants to intimate bistros. Bluewaters will also have two, hotels that are set to become a magnet for visitors from around the world looking for a world-class destination in Dubai. A purpose-built bridge also connects the island with Sheikh Zayed Road, while automated vehicles will transport passengers to Bluewaters from the Dubai Metro. A pedestrian bridge will also link Bluewaters to The Beach.
19 – BURJ KHALIFA
Burj Khalifa, by Emaar Properties, is the tallest skyscraper in the World, standing at 829.8m (2,722ft). Construction began in 2004 and this landmark was officially opened on the 4th of January 2010. The design of Burj Khalifa incorporates cultural and historical elements particular to the region such as the spiral minaret. Made of aluminum, stainless steel and more than 26,000 glass panels, part of a reflective glazing system designed to withstand Dubai’s extreme summer temperatures (the outside temperature at the top of the building is thought to be 6 °C/11 °F cooler than at its base). On the 124th floor terrace lies a touristic observation deck named “At the Top”; it is equipped by augmented reality telescopes which enable visitors to view the surrounding landscape.
20 – CITY WALK
